Emily was graduated from the Arts Faculty of the University of Hong Kong
with major in History, minor in English Literature, and was awarded with
the Degree of B.A. Honours .
She then joined the Hong Kong Police Force as an inspector .
Majority of her police experiences were in the Criminal Investigation Department at regional level for investigation and detection of criminal cases. She was promoted up to the rank of Acting Chief Inspector when she left the Police Force.
She passed the Common Professional Examinations of the University of Manchester and obtained the PCLL at the HKU in 1994.
Criminal Litigation experiences
Emily regularly appeared in the Magistracies, the District Court, the Court of First Instance, and the Court of Appeal as defence counsel in criminal trials and appeals. The nature of cases includes :
Commercial Fraud cases, Theft and offences of dishonesty, Assault and Wounding offences, Homicide cases; ICAC, Customs & Excise and Immigration cases, Drug offences and Sexual offences.
She is regularly instructed by the Department of Justice to prosecute criminal cases for the government.
She is regularly instructed by the Legal Aid Department and law firms to defend criminal cases for the defendants.
She is regularly instructed to conduct legal visits to the Police Department, ICAC, Customs & Excise Department and Immigration Department.
